One Stone to Create World Record Breaking Mural to Promote Student Voice 2016
How do you take the message of student voice to the global level? You break a world record! Team One Stone undertook a massive creative effort to take our message of “disrupt for good” to a whole other level with the world’s largest mosaic mural made entirely out of Post-It Notes. Three days, hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of sticky little office supplies made for a powerful statement of what’s possible when a community of people come together to create something BIG.

One Stone does not charge any membership dues or fees to ensure that all students, regardless of ability to pay, can access our programs. We believe the opportunity to change the world should not be related to economic background or financial standing.
PlayTech connects gaming, hacking and coding to careers in high tech
One Stone and the Idaho PTECH Network, together with Trailhead Boise, will stage the first PlayTech, a two-day gaming, hacking and coding event designed to inspire high school students from across the state to pursue an education and career in the tech industry in Idaho. The hands-on event will feature speakers from the high tech and start-up industry, as well as peer-to-peer coaching opportunities for high school students.

One Stone Board Retreat 2015
One Stone Board members and staff trekked off into the mountains of Idaho for three days for this year’s Board retreat, themed The Amazing Retreat! In the tradition of the Amazing Race, students broke into teams to take on challenges that ranged from one minute One Stone pitches, to Flags of the World identification competition, to on-the-spot team cheers. When not in neck-and-neck competition mode, people were in the water, cheering on first-time wake boarders and wiping out on tubes pulled over wakes.

One Stone Champions are the adults who help us make students better leaders and the world a better place. Through the Champions’ support of One Stone, we’re able to grow our capacity to do more and engage in the community at a larger scale. Additionally, Champions bring critical professional and skills-based knowledge and expertise to our team.

24-Hour Think Challenge 2015
The 24-Hour Think Challenge’s second year focused on something near and dear to the heart of students: relevant, 21st century learning. One hundred and fifty students from 32 southwest Idaho schools gathered October 1st and 2nd to take a hard look at where Idaho is headed, and bring student voice into the conversation about what’s next in learning.
State Farm Youth Advisory Board Grant 2015
One Stone is a 2015 recipient of the State Farm Youth Advisory Board Service Learning grant. This prestigious national grant was awarded to One Stone for the L.I.F.E.x project. L.I.F.E.x is a training and education tool that encourages learning in critical life and career skills, and encourages college education. L.I.F.E.x is a participatory simulation for middle school students, designed to deliver messaging about the importance of these skills in a fun and interactive way.

ONE 4 Event Disrupts for Good 2015
More than 350 community-minded people gathered at One Stone’s annual fundraising event, ONE, on Saturday, January 31 for an evening of disruption.
The event, now in its fourth year, showcased the power of student voice to disrupt for good: the opportunity to make a positive change in the status quo (for good) and for lasting impact, for good.
Kate Simonds, One Stone Board Member, Student Voice Advocate and TEDx Boise Superstar 2015
Meet Kate. Kate is a senior at Timberline High School, a member of the One Stone Board of Directors and Chair of External Relations Committee. Kate enjoys deep conversation, long walks on the beach, and invalidating teenage stereotypes. As the only high school student selected to speak at the inaugural TEDx Boise, Kate got the opportunity to do just that.
Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation Awards One Stone a $12,500 Grant
Boise, Idaho – The Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation (IWCF) recently awarded One Stone a grant to do a multi-phase experiential service project in partnership with the Idaho Youth Ranch. The grant will expand the reach of One Stone’s leadership and mentoring programs to include more students, of different ages, across Southwest Idaho. The grant also supports outreach to students at-risk.
