One Stone is a 2015 recipient of the State Farm Youth Advisory Board Service Learning grant. This prestigious national grant was awarded to One Stone for the L.I.F.E.x project. L.I.F.E.x is a training and education tool that encourages learning in critical life and career skills, and encourages college education. L.I.F.E.x is a participatory simulation for middle school students, designed to deliver messaging about the importance of these skills in a fun and interactive way. Participants move through L.I.F.E.x “stations” such as: how to dress for a job interview, how to manage credit, how to find service opportunities in the community and how to secure financial aid for college education. Following the simulation, all participants receive a book with localized content on resources and information, as well as coaching that reinforces the learning from the simulation.

The One Stone student planning team is currently planning the launch of the 2015 – 2016 project. They anticipate staging one-day events incorporating much of the project with the intention of reaching a large audience of underserved students in February and March.
