Many veterans transitioning into civilian life experience a lack of direction and discouragement about their futures, but they have a desire to rediscover their values. Returning from the service can be stressful with responsibilities of civilian life like finding a job, house hunting, going back to school, and maintaining relationships.
In response to this problem, this team asked: How might we encourage transitioning veterans living in the Boise area to acknowledge and pursue their sense of purpose? The team sought to create a way for veterans to reflect and learn about themselves by reclaiming their core values.
Ultimately, this Design Lab team defined their solution as a value-driven playbook designed to facilitate growth in transitioning veterans, giving them an opportunity to better understand themselves, recognize their potential, pursue their passions, and connect with existing resources. This solution makes the transition from service easier by providing an outlet for the user. This playbook gives a way for users to document feelings, thoughts, and processes. It also is designed to help users redefine who they are as individuals and shape who they want to be.
