Please join us for Why Lab, or YLab, Disruption Day, the culmination of a year-long independent design thinking project, when students deliver their final presentation.

YLab is a year-long experience that requires students to have a strong, working understanding of the design thinking process as well as professional skills in the area of communication and time management. The experience requires the grit necessary to successfully see a long-term project through to its end.

During the fall term, students work in the initial stages of the design thinking process, focusing on identifying and defining a human-centered problem or need related to their personal “why statement.” By conducting thorough field work as well as primary and secondary research, students work to gain a better understanding of the complexities that surround their topic. From their findings and insights, they frame their design challenge. In the spring, students work to ideate, prototype, test and implement their solutions.
