Designed by high school students, for high school students, One Stone is a place where learners are in the driver’s seat. Founded in 2008, One Stone is a student-driven non-profit that empowers student voice and provides high school students with transformative opportunities to drive their learning, practice relevant 21st century skills, and engage in purpose-driven and passion-based learning. Project Good, Two Birds, Ripple, and all One Stone’s after-school studios + labs are offered to students at no cost. Whether at One Stone’s headquarters at 1151 W. Miller St. in downtown Boise, Idaho or through national and global partnerships and opportunities, students and coaches learn together, create together, and build community together.

every ONE matters
Equality of Voice
At One Stone’s Studios + Labs, all students have a seat at the table. In fact, our Board of Directors consists of two-thirds or more students. Each learner is a co-designer of One Stone and a driver of its inclusive culture. Rather than learning in classes taught by teachers, One Stone students work alongside coaches, mentors, and community leaders who help them personalize their learning and practice in real-world environments.
Meeting Students Where They Are
One Stone’s growth-based philosophy empowers all students to leverage their strengths while building confidence in their ability to master new skills. We treat each learner as a whole person. Whether online or face-to-face, One Stone’s safe, supportive, and positive environment builds relationships between adults and peers, creative confidence, ownership, and risk taking through highly-personalized learning and a powerful sense of community and belonging.
Creating Greater Access
One Stone’s model ensures access and inclusivity for anyone interested in applying for Lab51 or for any high school student looking to join one of our open-access, out-of-school studios + labs. This provides a valuable exposure to a richness of viewpoints, cultures, relationships, technology, and experiences that lead to life-long, transformational learning.
